Taking a bus from Thessaloniki to Airport to Halkidiki is quite more complicated and time consuming. The ride to Halkidiki can be up to 2 hours and 30 minutes due to the many stops buses make. You should have in mind that buses are not available 24/7. The first buses are at 5.30 a.m. while the last one at 6.00 p.m. During summer period, it would be best to reserve your seat since most buses tend to be full. If that is not possible, it is best to be at least 1 hour ahead of departure time so you don’t run the risk of not finding a seat and having to wait for the next one.

How to get to the Halkidiki bus station from Thessaloniki Airport

As we have already mentioned, you must first take a taxi or 2 different buses to get to the Halkidiki bus station (also known as KTEL). If you take a taxi the ride lasts about 15 minutes. To get to Halkidiki station by bus you need to take the X1 (previously named 78N) line from the airport and go the IKEA station. From there you must board on the line 36 that will take you to the station. The whole journey can last up to 1 hour, mainly due to the X1 line delays.

Why take a bus

Taking a bus is ideal for people who are tight on budget. Especially if you don’t mind the extra time needed or if you don’t carry lots of luggage with you. Otherwise, taking using a private transportation service is a far more preferable and enjoyable means of transportation.
